For the next few weeks, I hand-picked a group of my favorite local wedding vendors for a little interview series! These ladies are seriously magical. From flowers to photography, they all use their unique gifts + talents to help make this world (and your wedding) a little more beautiful. I hope you love getting to know these girls - make sure to follow them on social media if you’re a fan!

For today’s feature, you’ll get to hear more about Kelsey Lynne Photography. Owner, Kelsey, provides wedding photography for couples in the PNW area. Assisted by her husband, Kyle, this husband and wife team works together to create images that are bright, clean and timeless. If you’re looking for someone who will capture your wedding day perfectly and feel like your best friend by the end of the night, Kelsey is your girl!

How did you choose your business name?

“I started when I was 20, so I went with my first & middle name in case I ever changed my last name. Good thing, because I got married shortly after & now my husband & I photograph weddings together!”

What do you order at Starbucks?

“Are you ready for a novel? Iced Doppio Espresso in a Venti Cup with Extra Ice, 2 Pumps White Mocha, and a splash of cream.”

What inspired you to start your business?

“If I look back on the last 15 years, I can see that I truly have always LOVED photography. But the thing that inspired me to actually start a business was the feeling of taking photos for friends & seeing them light up when they saw a beautiful image of themselves. I love making people feel comfortable in front of the camera and showing them just HOW beautiful they are. I am someone who struggles with insecurity and was bullied for my appearance as a child - so I love being able to capture each of our clients in beautiful light & giving them images of themselves on the best days of their lives. Showing people just how amazing & beautiful they are is the best part of my job. Oh, and wedding cake!”

Describe your ideal client below:

“We get to be the BEST photographers when our couples trust us to capture them! Our clients really do become friends over the course of the wedding planning process - so that on the day of their wedding, it feels like we've known each other forever! That's ideal for us. It gives us an opportunity to get to know each couple & be able to curate their wedding photography to exactly who they are & what they love!”

What part of the wedding day is your absolute favorite?

“The First Look. Hands down. Whether our clients choose to see each other privately before the ceremony - or if the first time they see each other is when they walk down the aisle. I just LOVE the moment when they lock eyes for the first time. The wedding planning process is full of so much anticipation for this moment - I love seeing it unfold for each of our couples.”

What's your favorite wedding color trend?

“This is hard! I think my FAVORITE wedding color scheme trend is greenery. I love that bouquets and decor is more natural and loose than it had been in the early 2000's and I love the organic feel that added greenery gives - even to bright bouquets! I think it just adds so much!”

Do you have any advice for brides on how to find the right fit in their vendor search?

“TALK TO THEM! We love to get coffee or happy hour with our couples to make sure that we all feel comfortable together! You will be able to tell a lot by a phone call, Skype, or an in-person consultation! Make sure you feel comfortable with them - especially vendors who you actually will be with on the day of your wedding (photographers, videographers, officiant, DJ, Coordinator). Read their reviews & ALWAYS make sure to have a contract!”

When you're stressed or burnt out, what's your go-to self care routine?

“Long Nap. Hot Bath. Turning off my Phone.”

do you recommend hiring a wedding planner or coordinator to engaged couples?

“As a photographer & as a bride I can tell you - one of the BEST investments you can make to actually ENJOY your wedding is a coordinator. Having someone to handle all of the little details - especially on the day of the wedding - is a LIFESAVER! Also, as a vendor - it is so nice to have a point person to ask questions to so that we don't have to constantly ask the couple! Coordinators handle the things you don't have to, so you can spend more of your wedding day present & in the moment! Highly recommend!”
